What to Expect From the Award-Winning Pan Pacific Serviced Suites Beach Road

December 19, 2020 by Bino Leave a Comment

It used to be the case that serviced apartments catered to only three types of people – those on long business trips, those relocating to a new country for the first month or two and finally, business people on generous expat packages who could afford paying almost hotel prices month after month for an apartment that is cleaned every other day.

In recent years however, the rise of more discerning travelers looking for extra space in their Singapore accommodations for day-to-day activities as well as local staycation-ers have meant that the value proposition of serviced apartments has intersected with hotels. Such is the case with Pan Pacific Serviced Suites Beach Road, one of the newest service apartments to come up in Singapore. Conveniently located just next to the tourist attractions of Arab Street and the indie shopping haven that is Haji Lane, it is one of the few serviced apartments in the country that actually has a hotel license.

Entering the property for the first time and seeing the sleek and modern furnishings of the lobby, I would be fooled to think that the Pan Pacific Serviced Suites Beach Road is actually a hotel. It’s no wonder that the property has won a couple of awards in the two years since it opened, including citations for its architecture and design at the Asia-Pacific International Property Awards and being named Luxury Apartment of the Year by Luxury Travel Guide. What added to the perception of being in a luxury hotel was the staff member manning the check-in counters dressed in a uniform not too dissimilar from what I remember from my unbelievable staycation at Pan Pacific Singapore Hotel. As with my experience with that property, I was greeted warmly and in no time, my key cards were handed to me using the same golden key card holder that I remember from that memorable stay.

Refreshed Makan Makan Buffet at Edge, Pan Pacific Singapore (Saturday Lunch)

June 18, 2017 by Bino Leave a Comment

I arrived a few minutes before noon at Edge, the all-day dining restaurant at Pan Pacific Singapore on a Saturday to find a small crowd gathering by the entrance. The venue’s Makan Makan buffet – held every Saturdays during lunch – has been a hit for a number of years now, attracting diners seeking local food all in one roof. Recently, Edge has tweaked the buffet offerings a bit and added a couple of new sections.

Pacific Marketplace at Pan Pacific Singapore – Refreshed Menu Featuring World Cuisines

April 2, 2017 by Bino Leave a Comment

Pacific Marketplace, the gourmet grocery and cafe at Pan Pacific Singapore, has recently revamped its menu to showcase dishes from all over the world. I personally have fond memories of the venue. As it is situated near my workplace, I come here from time to time for lunch. Prices are reasonable (even more so with Entertainer app) and I particularly love the Asian delights such as the Roasted Duck Curry and Wagyu Beef Pho.

I was recently invited to a media tasting in order to sample the beefed up menu (no pun intended). While the previous menu had a strong focus on Asian dishes, the revamp has seen a host of new sandwiches and salads. Here are the ones I tried:

Ultimate Weekend Dimsum Brunch at Hai Tien Lo, Pan Pacific Singapore

November 9, 2016 by Bino Leave a Comment

Hai Tien Lo at Pan Pacific Singapore has recently revamped their weekend dimsum brunch by offering new items such as Steamed Vegetarian Dumplings with Truffles and a Kong Bak Pau live station alongside old favorites like Braised Whole Abalone with Pearl Mushroom in Abalone Sauce and Deep-fried Prawns in Wasabi Mayonnaise Sauce.

Sizzling Claypot Specialties at Hai Tien Lo, Pan Pacific Singapore

September 27, 2016 by Bino Leave a Comment

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Pan Pacific Singapore, Hai Tien Lo has launched 30 signature claypot dishes featuring specialties such as Nyonya Claypot Prawns and Roast Duck with Sea Cucumber. The dishes are priced reasonably at SGD 22 to SGD 28 per claypot. There is also currently a promotion where any two claypot dishes could be had for just SGD 33.30 for dinner from Sundays to Wednesdays. This is a really good deal by Hai Tien Lo’s standards as two claypot dishes could be shared by two or even three people for a respectable dinner.

I tried around twenty of the thirty claypot dishes during a recent media preview of the new promotion. Overall, I found the variety to be a good mix between meat dishes (pork, beef, chicken and duck all well-represented) and seafood (prawns and fish). Many of the dishes could be thought of as comfort food, the type that family and friends would share over a lovely evening while recounting happy times.

Surf & Turf Tuesday Dinner Buffet at Edge in Pan Pacific Singapore

July 23, 2016 by Bino Leave a Comment

Edge at Pan Pacific Singapore has recently revamped their Tuesday dinner buffets, replacing the Cuts @ Edge promotion that ran on Tuesday nights. Diners can now get the best of both seafood and meat with the new Surf & Turf buffet, a carefully curated offering that punches above its weight in terms of variety for a weekday hotel dinner buffet.

I was recently invited for a tasting session to check out exactly what the Surf & Turf buffet spread had to offer. I was immediately thrown off by what I saw. Buckets of fresh prawns, clams, scallops and Alaskan crab greeted me as I entered Edge. For a minute there, I thought that I had stepped into another Sunday brunch due to the premium seafood available.

Sunday Champagne Brunch at Edge, Pan Pacific Singapore

April 25, 2016 by Bino Leave a Comment

Edge, the all-day dining restaurant at Pan Pacific Singapore, recently revamped the country’s longest Sunday champagne brunch with a host of new items alongside their existing specialties such as the Mongolian Suckling Pig, Durian Pengat and Whole Roasted Prime Rib. The buffet stations have also been revitalized to make them more interactive, with the opportunity for diners to witness the kitchen staff preparing some of the items on the buffet. Personally, I love dining at this property especially at Hai Tien Lo or at Keyaki so I was pretty excited to try out the Sunday brunch at Edge this time around.

The first thing I noticed as I entered was this live band which serenaded us throughout the afternoon with acoustic versions of pop tunes. It provided for a modern touch to what was mostly an elegant affair.

Hotel Review: Pan Pacific Serviced Suites Orchard

December 10, 2015 by Bino 1 Comment

Located right smack in the middle of Singapore’s most well-known shopping belt, the Pan Pacific Serviced Suites Orchard perhaps represents some of the most luxurious serviced apartments in Singapore. I am no stranger to the Pan Pacific brand, having stayed previously at Pan Pacific Singapore and the Pan Pacific Serviced Suites Beach Road. Compared to those two, the property in Orchard requires guests to stay for a minimum of one week. That being said, the property is highly popular not just among those with expat packages. Due to the highly convenient location, it’s also quite sought after by those on longer leisure or business trips to Singapore. For the purpose of this review, I stayed here for two nights to check out just exactly what it had to offer.

As mentioned previously, the location alone is a plus point when it comes to this property. Somerset MRT station is literally next door along with shopping malls such as 313 Somerset and Orchard Central. The property’s entrance faces Somerset Road instead of the much busier Orchard Road so you won’t have to struggle with the foot traffic when you come here to check in.
