Note that this offer is valid only if you apply via the below exclusive links (direct application with SCB doesn’t count for the promotion). Why is that so? Singsaver actually acts as an aggregator and affiliate partner for SCB cards and from time to time, Singsaver and Standard Chartered may jointly fund the gift in order to split the marketing expense between them.

After clicking submit on your credit card application, make sure to take note of your Application Reference Number. You will have to fill out a redemption form (automatically sent to your email once you make a card application) in order to be registered.

Once your card is approved, remember to spend at least S$350 (can be in multiple transactions) within 30 days of receiving your card in order to receive the reward. You will get an email within 60 to 90 days with instructions on how to claim your gift.

Hotel Review: InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay – Luxurious Residential-Style Living

January 24, 2022 by Bino 1 Comment

InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay opened in October 2017 after taking over from the old Gallery Hotel in the same site by the Singapore River. Unlike its Peranakan-influenced sister hotel in Bugis, the newer InterContinental hotel – and the second of the brand in Singapore – carries a pronounced residential-inspired concept in keeping with the expat-oriented neighborhood surrounding it. This particular InterContinental hotel is only 10 floors high and was designed by the award-winning firm, SCDA.

Along with the gradual reopening of some IHG hotels in Singapore, the property also reopened in December 2021 after nearly 2 years of being a quarantine hotel.

First Look: 5 on 25 at Andaz Singapore – Cantonese Restaurant With an Old Shanghai Vibe

January 16, 2022 by Bino Leave a Comment

A new Chinese concept opened recently at Andaz Singapore. “5 on 25” – as the Cantonese restaurant is called, is named after the five taste senses and is also a nod at the venue’s high 25th floor setting.

The 321 square meter Chinese restaurant used to be Auntie’s Wok and Steam and has been completely transformed by noted interior architect, Andre Fu, who also designed the rest of the hotel. The look of 5 on 25 takes on a subdued “Grand Shanghai” vibe but with noted modern touches. The restaurant is wrapped in a palette of rich colors and textures, blending dark leather with rush velvet, lacquer and warm timber.

5 on 25 is helmed by Andaz Singapore’s Chinese head chef Lim Hong Lih who used to be the Assistant Chinese Chef at Summer Pavilion over at Ritz Carlton Millenia Singapore. Here at 5 on 25, he aims to rework classic Cantonese dishes by giving familiar ingredients an unexpected twist without sacrificing their comforting qualities and flavors.

Beauty in the Pot Now Offers Draught Sake Along With Their Signature Hotpot

December 22, 2021 by Bino Leave a Comment

Beauty in the Pot now offers sake as a drink to go along with your hot pot, exclusively at their Centrepoint outlet. Served straight from the keg, Beauty in the Pot is offering the Mikotsuru Karakuchi Junmai Muroka Nama Genshu sake which is produced by Suwamikotsuru Sake brewery from Nagano prefecture. Incidentally, they were just recently awarded the IWC Champion Sake for 2021.

Taste-wise, the sake features prominent fruity aromas with hints of orange, plum, pineapple, rock melon and banana. For a limited time, Beauty in the Pot is offering the exclusive draught sake at only S$20.80++ per carafe (180ml) instead of the usual price of S$25.80++. The serving is good for about 4 to 5 cups.

The cooling nature of the sake makes it an appropriate pairing with Beauty in the Pot’s signature broths. I tried both the Beauty Collagen Broth which involved more than 8 hours of boiling as well as the Spicy Nourishing Broth which came brimming with premium Chinese herbs like red dates, wolfberries, ginseng and more.

Sake also goes well with seafood as the subtle sweetness of sake is able to bring out the freshness of seafood. The 2 Pax Seafood Platter ($48.80) comes with a variety of seafood including Fish Maw, Red Leg Prawn, Hokkaido Scallop, Abalone, Red Clam and sliced Red Grouper.

December 21, 2021 by Bino Leave a Comment

Update: The Citibank Dyson promotion has been revised as follows. There is a new promotion where you can receive an Apple Watch SE (worth S$419) or Dyson V8 Fluffy (worth S$549) or S$400 cash via PayNow when you apply as a new Citibank cardholder. You can apply here or thru the individual card links below. Promotion is valid until 31st May 2022 (11:59PM).

Historically, S$400 is the highest ever cash reward offered by Citi for new card sign-ups.

————————————————————————————

There is currently a Singsaver credit card promotion where you can get yourself either a brand new Dyson AM07 Tower Fan (UP S$499) or S$300 cash via Paynow. New Citibank cardholders (those who have not held a Citibank card in the past 12 months) who apply for a credit card and get approved can choose to receive one of the abovementioned gifts. This promotion is valid from now until 13th January 2022 (11:59PM).Annual fee is waived for the first year for all the cards listed below except for the Citi Prestige. Citibank usually waives the annual fee for succeeding years as long as you actively use the card but if not, you can always cancel to avoid paying the annual fee. You can even cancel the card after receiving the gift if you wish.

If you are already an existing Citibank cardholder, fret not. You still get to have S$30 with your successful application.

Note that this offer is valid only if you apply via the below exclusive links (direct application with Citibank doesn’t count for the promotion). Why is that so? Singsaver actually acts as an aggregator and affiliate partner for Citibank cards and from time to time, Singsaver and Citibank may jointly fund the gift in order to split the marketing expense between them.

Similar offers have been running for the past couple of months, with the gift going as low as S$200. The current S$300 cash offer is above average, historically, for the cash sign-up reward.

After clicking submit on your credit card application, make sure to take note of your Application Reference Number. You will have to fill out a redemption form (automatically sent to your email once you make a card application) in order to be registered.

Once your card is approved, remember to spend at least S$500 (can be in multiple transactions) within 30 days of receiving your card in order to receive the reward. You will get an email within 60 to 90 days with instructions on how to claim your gift.

Here are the Citibank cards that qualify for the promotion:

Hotel Staycation Review: Mandarin Oriental Singapore – One of the Best Hotel Swimming Pools in Singapore

December 14, 2021 by Bino 1 Comment

Mandarin Oriental Singapore ranks among my most frequently stayed hotels in Singapore. Time and time again, the property launches creatively packaged staycation deals that defines what it means to be “a tourist in your own city.” Coupled with the hotel’s renowned hospitality and level of luxury, their staycation packages tend to come with inclusions that appeal to a wide demographic – whether it be families, couples or friends enjoying a weekend getaway.

This review is an amalgamation of my various staycations at the Mandarin Oriental Singapore. There are only so many ways one can do a package out of a hotel staycation but Mandarin Oriental Singapore seems to nail it every time and I always look forward to my stays here.

mandarin oriental singapore lobby

The hotel was built in the 1980s with the design coming from John Portman. Entering the lobby, one gets mesmerized by the cavernous atrium. As the brand name suggests, the decor is very much in keeping with the chain – think lots of Chinese figurines, dark and warm tones as well as long chandeliers.

First Look: Rempapa – Singapore New Heritage Cuisine in Paya Lebar

December 4, 2021 by Bino Leave a Comment

Rempapa is a new restaurant opened in Paya Lebar PLQ by celebrated chef, Damian D’Silva who formerly helmed memorable dining outlets such as Kin and Folklore. In keeping with Chef Damian’s background, the cuisine at Rempapa is multicultural. Think: flavors of the Chinese, Peranakan, Eurasian, Indian and Malay kitchens. The name Rempapa comes from two words -“Rempah” for the Malay spice paste and “Papa” which serves to honor Damian’s standing in the culinary scene.

Unlike Chef Damian’s previous ventures, Rempapa is an all-day dining concept. This means diners can come in for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner or even for drinks and enjoy a different facet of the offerings here for each meal. In total, Rempapa has over 50 dishes in its repertoire – of which many are totally new even to Chef Damian’s most loyal customers.

As previously mentioned, there are a few menus at Rempapa that correspond to different mealtimes. Breakfast is from Mondays to Fridays 10:30AM to 12PM. Brunch is on weekends and public holidays 9:30AM to 3:30PM. Lunch is served on weekdays from 12PM to 3:30PM while dinner and bar snacks are served daily from 6PM to 10:30PM. They also serve afternoon tea from 3:30PM to 6PM daily. The dishes I tried during their preview were a mix of these different mealtimes.

Lazada Launches Pop-Up at Orchard Road With S$2 Vending Machine Mystery Dip

December 1, 2021 by Bino Leave a Comment

From 1st December 2021 to 2nd January 2022, Lazada is launching a limited-time pop-up in Orchard Road showcasing some of their exclusive items for year-end shopping. The pop-up also has a vending machine that churns out surprise items to visitors.

As part of the pop-up, Lazada showcases their LazMall Prestige which houses a number of luxury brands such as Vertu, Estee Lauder, Lancome, Moet Hennessy, Bacha Coffee and more. LazMall Prestige shoppers can also head to the gifting station and pick from a selection of curated wrapping materials and cards to personalize their gifts for free. Every Friday to Sunday from 2 to 6pm, there will also be workshops for shoppers including Furoshiki cloth wrapping and calligraphy workshops. Some of the exclusive deals on display here include the Miffy and Dan Black Tote, BB Orange Book Pouch and Miffy in the Snow Pouch. There is also a curated gift hamper from Bacha Coffee that is sold exclusively on Lazada. All of these deals will also participate in Lazada’s 12.12 sale.

To complete the Christmas experience, shoppers can take a photo with family and friends at the Instagram- and TikTok-friendly heart-gram display or take a break after shopping with the best F&B deals using the ‘Deals Nearby’ function on the Lazada app. Simply open the app, swipe the main icons to the right, select ‘more’ and shoppers will see the ‘Deals Nearby’ option for a list of F&B choices in the area. Offers available around the pop-up showcase include 2x bubble tea from Chi Cha San Chen for just S$8, Jollibean Mee Chaing Kueh + Soy Milk Set for just S$2 and Pezzo Classic Thin Crust Pan for just S$16.50.

A personal highlight of the pop-up is the vending machine that churns out mystery items to visitors. To redeem an item, visitors just need to purchase a ticket from the Lazada app (you can buy here) for S$2. Each redemption will involve a sure-win item that is worth much more than S$2. Items include some premium items from well-known brands. I personally received a skincare product from Clinique worth S$22.

The pop-up is located on the sidewalk in between Ngee Ann City and Wisma Atria.
