Hotel Review: InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay – Luxurious Residential-Style Living

January 24, 2022 by Bino 1 Comment

InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay opened in October 2017 after taking over from the old Gallery Hotel in the same site by the Singapore River. Unlike its Peranakan-influenced sister hotel in Bugis, the newer InterContinental hotel – and the second of the brand in Singapore – carries a pronounced residential-inspired concept in keeping with the expat-oriented neighborhood surrounding it. This particular InterContinental hotel is only 10 floors high and was designed by the award-winning firm, SCDA.

Along with the gradual reopening of some IHG hotels in Singapore, the property also reopened in December 2021 after nearly 2 years of being a quarantine hotel.

Hotel Review: Intercontinental San Francisco – Full Service Club Lounge & Fantastic SoMa Location

June 17, 2021 by Bino Leave a Comment

Opened in 2008, the Intercontinental San Francisco stands at one of the most strategic locations in the city. Its South of the Market address makes it easy for leisure and business travelers alike, with the perpetually busy Union Square and headquarters of several tech companies a short walk away. Powell Street station – one of the busiest transport terminals in the city – is about a 5 minute walk. During a recent weekend, I returned to the city by the bay after an 11 year absence and stayed at the Intercontinental San Francisco.

My check-in experience was the most impressive I’ve had in a long while. The front desk associate was extremely polite but more importantly she was also highly knowledgeable and efficient – spelling out for me all the benefits I had as an IHG Rewards Club Elite member, down to the type of welcome amenity I should be expecting. I was given 400 points and a box of chocolates from The San Francisco Chocolate Factory during check-in. After a long 12-hour flight, it is definitely a relief to check-in without any hassle and to be shown to my room as soon as possible.

Hotel Staycation Review: InterContinental Singapore (Junior Suite)

October 26, 2020 by Bino 2 Comments

It’s been a while since my last stay in InterContinental Singapore. The property located in Bugis Junction has always been one of my favorite hotels in Singapore. For a relatively modest price point where luxury hotels are concerned, the InterContinental Singapore seamlessly melds its own unique Peranakan interpretation into its upscale hotel proposition. Since my last hotel stay experience there, I also found that the property made some adjustments with the room types as well as introduced tweaks into the club lounge experience.

New Menu at Man Fu Yuan 满福苑 (2019) – InterContinental Singapore

June 5, 2019 by Bino Leave a Comment

Man Fu Yuan, the Chinese restaurant in InterContinental Singapore, has launched a new menu in 2019 as it onboards a new Executive Sous Chef – Aaron Tan. Chef Aaron is now the main chef overseeing the culinary activities in Man Fu Yuan as Chef Eric Neo is now the Executive Chef of the entire hotel. With the new Executive Sous Chef, Man Fu Yuan has 13 new dishes in the menu in addition to the perennial favorites. I was recently invited over by the InterContinental Singapore team to sample the new items in Man Fu Yuan.

Hotel Review: InterContinental Ljubljana – The Most Luxurious in Town

May 12, 2019 by Bino Leave a Comment

InterContinental Ljubljana opened its doors in 2017 as the only IHG property in the Slovenian capital of Ljubljana. Housed in a 20-floor building (the 2nd tallest in Ljubljana) just steps away from the train station and bus terminal, the property has 165 rooms sporting the newer look of InterContinental hotels. Ljubljana has gained prominence in recent years as a tourist destination and until the entry of InterContinental, there weren’t many true luxury lodging options in town.

I arrived in Ljubljana on a gloomy afternoon from Sarajevo. Getting from airport to city was relatively easy. There were three airport shuttle booths from three different companies all offering the same price – EUR 10 to get to the city. The shuttle dropped me off directly at the entrance of the InterContinental Ljubljana where the bellman quickly opened the door to escort me in.

October 14, 2017 by Bino 1 Comment

After months of anticipation, the InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay has finally opened. The hotel, which takes the space of the former Gallery Hotel, is located along the Singapore River and is surrounded by chic brunch places, leafy residences and plenty of bars and restaurants.

Hotel Review: InterContinental Malta

June 6, 2017 by Bino Leave a Comment

Located right in St. Julian’s, the InterContinental Malta is one of the more established luxury hotels in the island. I had wanted to book the property during my short trip to Malta due to the Accelerate promotion and one of my challenges was to stay in an IHG hotel in Europe.

Hotel Review: InterContinental Moscow Tverskaya – Wonderful Service & Fantastic Recognition for Ambassador Members

May 13, 2017 by Bino 1 Comment

During a recent trip to Moscow, I decided to use my one-time InterContinental Ambassador weekend certificate at the InterContinental Moscow Tverskaya. Opened in 2012, the property is the only InterContinental branded one in Russia and is generally recognized as one of the top business hotels in the city. The property is very centrally located, along Tverskaya Street with at least 3 metro stations within 5 minutes walk of the hotel. Red Square is around 10 minutes away by car.
