Food Review: JUMBO Signatures at Marina Bay Sands

June 28, 2022 by Bino Leave a Comment

JUMBO Signatures opened in early 2022 as the new premium restaurant concept of JUMBO Group. Located at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, JUMBO Signatures features iconic dishes from JUMBO Group’s multiple dining concepts. Contrary to what most people think, JUMBO Group is so much more than the JUMBO “Chili Crab” with other well-known restaurants such as Chui Huay Lim, NG AH SIO Bak Kut Teh, Chao Ting and more under their belt.

With JUMBO Signatures, diners can order dishes on an ala-carte basis or as a set from their Signatures Tasting Menu or Executive Lunch Menu. During my visit, I got to try their Signatures Tasting Menu (S$158) comprising 6-courses. Wine pairings are also available at a charge.

Min Jiang at Goodwood Park Hotel Relaunches With a New Look and Menu

October 16, 2020 by Bino Leave a Comment

One of Singapore’s most established Chinese restaurants, Min Jiang has reopened following months of refurbishment in its Goodwood Park Hotel location. The restaurant has been around since 1982, delighting guests with its mix of Cantonese and Sichuan cuisines.

The refurbished interiors at Min Jiang showcase the old and the new. You will find antique furniture peppered throughout the place while the color scheme has turned a tad brighter with hues of warm honey, silver-grey and teal in the textile wall panels. I especially love the tropical vibe in the alfresco area – a bit resort-ish and definitely not what one would expect at a Chinese restaurant!

June 5, 2019 by Bino Leave a Comment

Man Fu Yuan, the Chinese restaurant in InterContinental Singapore, has launched a new menu in 2019 as it onboards a new Executive Sous Chef – Aaron Tan. Chef Aaron is now the main chef overseeing the culinary activities in Man Fu Yuan as Chef Eric Neo is now the Executive Chef of the entire hotel. With the new Executive Sous Chef, Man Fu Yuan has 13 new dishes in the menu in addition to the perennial favorites. I was recently invited over by the InterContinental Singapore team to sample the new items in Man Fu Yuan.

Of Cornflakes & Oversized Buchi – My Chinese Dinner at Summer Palace in EDSA Shangri-la

September 26, 2014 by Bino Leave a Comment

A fine Chinese restaurant is one of the hallmarks of Shangri-la Hotels around the world, aside from the impeccable rooms and trademark hospitality. It is no surprise then that in its properties around Asia, these restaurants really bring in the crowds. For the case of  EDSA Shangri-la, the Summer Palace has emerged as one of the default options that locals turn to when they seek for a high-end Chinese restaurant in Manila, with its creatively designed oriental dishes and constantly evolving food menu that few others in the city are able to emulate.

This particular restaurant is no stranger to the local culinary scene. Frequently cited as one of the best in serving Chinese cuisine in the city, Summer Palace has served lauriat after lauriat, with business lunches and dimsum brunches in between. I had the pleasure of sampling their signature creations during my stay there. And what a dinner it was! On to the food.
