The KrisFlyer Gold Lounge operated by Singapore Airlines in Changi Airport’s Terminal 3 is accessed by passengers who are KrisFlyer Gold members (plus one guest) flying on a Singapore Airlines/Star Alliance flight regardless of the class they’re traveling in. In this way, it differs from the SilverKris Lounge which is being used by Business Class passengers. During a recent trip to Osaka and despite flying in Business, I decided to check out the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge.

It is worth noting that there are two of such lounges in Changi Airport. One is in Terminal 2 while the other is in Terminal 3. I was in the airport for an evening flight and thus witnessed the lounge when it is at its most crowded.

I could not find a seat at all in the lounge and even spotted some passengers having to contend with sitting on top of their luggage. What a pity!
If it were not for the crowd, the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge actually has a decentambiance. There are a few seating formats available including some lounge chairs, bar stools and a more spacious section with a view of the transit area.
As a lounge being used for elite members traveling in Economy Class, I wasn’t really expecting much in terms of food. However, what constantly surprises me about this lounge is how their dimsum selection is usually better than even the SilverKris Lounge. Even late in the night, I could still see some meat and red bean buns, chwee kueh, siu mai and other types of dumplings on display.
Other than the dimsum, the rest of the hot items – especially the Western selection – pale in comparison to the classier SilverKris Lounge which is understandable.

There is also a modest alcohol selection with various types of wines. You won’t find champagne here of course but there’s sparkling wine as a cheaper substitute.
There have been quite a number of bad comments regarding the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge in Changi Airport over the years. Personally, other than the overcrowding/lack of seats, I thought it was quite okay for a lounge being accessed by elite members flying in Economy/Premium Economy.
This is the lounge Star Alliance Golds use too?
