The Perfect Itinerary For Mauritius & Travel Guide

May 12, 2019 by Bino 4 Comments

Compared to many of the other small island nations scattered around the Indian Ocean, Mauritius offers so much more than your typical sunbathing and beaches. Within its 2,040 square kilometers; you’ll find plenty of mountain peaks, jungles and awesome natural land formations to keep you busy for days. This is on top of the cultural and historic sights that dot its small towns and cities. Most people make the mistake of coming to Mauritius for a short trip – like during a weekend – only to realize that they’ve barely scratched the surface of the country by the time they leave. This itinerary covers Mauritius within 5 days which I think is the minimum number of days needed in order to really see what the island has to offer.

Dubrovnik and Split are unquestionably the twin highlights of any trip down Croatia’s Adriatic coast. The Essential 3-Day Itinerary for New Orleans – Most Exotic City in the United States

February 18, 2019 by Bino 2 Comments

The mix of cultures in New Orleans makes the city one of the most interesting places in the world to visit. “The Big Easy” is known for its history and architecture, music and art, and cuisine and nightlife.

There is so much to see and do that travellers return again and again to expand their explorations. With more than 1,000 restaurants and cafes, the food options alone guarantee a unique experience every time. The city is always humming with the sounds of its celebrated jazz and blues musicians, as well as frequent festivals and other events.

For those who have only three days to spend in New Orleans, here is a suggested itinerary.

Halloween Horror Nights 2018 at Universal Studios Singapore

November 9, 2018 by Bino Leave a Comment

It has been a long while since I’ve gone for the Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Singapore. I went for the first one in 2011 and remember being awed by the visual effects and dedicated actors who made the haunted houses as spooky as possible. This wasn’t the usual amusement park scary house as I soon discovered. I went for my second one in 2016 and the enjoyment was not at all diminished despite being five years older.

This year’s Halloween Horror Nights is a play on Asian horror. There are Malay, Chinese and Japanese themed horror houses that complement a Netflix tie-up, Stranger Things. In total there are 5 haunted houses, 2 scare zones and 3 live shows this year.

Brilliant Autumn Colors in Tokyo’s Showa Kinen Park

November 4, 2018 by Bino 16 Comments

Autumn is a magical time in Japan. The leaves start to wither, earlier in the countryside and in northern Japan, and at about late-November to early-December in Tokyo’s open areas like Showa Kinen Park. Called koyo, Japan’s parks and forests turn into a sea of red, yellow and brown especially when seen with a backdrop of maple and gingko trees. Autumn is widely considered to be the favorite season of most Japanese, and it was with much luck that my visit to Tokyo last week fell right smack in this season.

Editor’s Note: Here are more autumn leaves viewing spots in Tokyo.

With very little time, I shortlisted a few nice autumn viewing spots. Places such as Hibiya Park in central Tokyo, the Rikugien in Bunkyo Ward as well as Shinjuku’s Gyoen are considered to be some of the best autumn viewing spots in Tokyo. Since I only had time to visit one or two places, I eventually decided on Gingko Avenue or Icho Namiki in Aoyama and Showa Memorial Park (Showa Kinen Koen) in Tachikawa in western Tokyo.

Cycling in Eastern Singapore – From Katong to East Coast Park

September 26, 2018 by Bino Leave a Comment

My full day of cycling did not exactly start out as planned. I woke up witnessing heavy rain outside my window, with puddles accumulating around the sidewalks. The weather may have been a perfect excuse to just stay indoors but rather than canceling my plans altogether, I brought out the Brompton bicycle that I had loaned and proceeded to hail a cab. The bike’s manageable size and weight as well as its foldability makes it rather suited to situations like these when I can choose to bring it inside a car and head to a part of town I’d like to explore for leisure.

My Secret Wakayama – Attractions, Itinerary and Travel Guide to This Hidden Gem 1 Hour From Osaka

July 2, 2018 by Bino 1 Comment

My recent trip to Wakayama encapsulated the ease and convenience of visiting Japan’s off-the-beaten path destinations. I have so far been to Japan for five times prior to this trip and had not known about Wakayama until I participated in the “My Secret Wakayama” project. It is an initiative to uncover this little known destination in the southern part of Kansai region brimming with resorts, historic attractions and some of the best ramen in Japan.

Despite being little known to foreign visitors aside from Mt. Koya which is also located within Wakayama’s namesake prefecture, the city is surprisingly easy to get to. From Kansai International Airport, it is slightly less than 1 hour away which makes it practical to combine with a trip to Osaka and Kyoto. You can also easily book a tour that covers the essential sights in Wakayama as a day trip.
