I have been to Hoi An in Central Vietnam countless times and one thing that always impresses me is the relative degree of comfort and quality my money can get me here. US$40 per night can easily get you a nice, modern looking hotel with welcome drink/fruit basket and breakfast while US$100 will already get you close to 5-star level of luxury. This is why I love coming back and each time I am here, I try a different place to stay.
In Hoi An, there are 3 general areas to stay. The most popular area is just outside the ancient city where plenty of boutique hotels are situated. The second general area is at the outskirts of the town where plenty of quality accommodations can be had for a cheaper price than those nearer to the ancient city. The third area is the most exclusive one – generally near the coast facing the South China Sea. Many luxury resorts with their own beachfront are located here. Hotels in this area are mostly low-rise and come with plenty of space to roam around.
In this guide, I show a mixture of hotels from these 3 areas – ranging from cheap to midrange to luxurious ones that you can book for your next Hoi An trip.

Lantana Riverside Hoi An Boutique Hotel & Spa
If you don’t mind staying just a bit farther from the old town, you can get roughly similar quality hotels for almost half the price. One such option is Lantana Riverside Hoi An Boutique Hotel & Spa which is located along the same riverside road that leads to the old town. It is roughly 1km to 1.5km away which entails a 25 minute walk or 7 minute bike ride. You can easily rent a bike from the hotel for US$1 per day. Rooms are decked in the same elegant Vietnamese aesthetic and what I love about the rooms here is that they all come with a balcony – yes, even the entry level rooms! If you choose to stay here, I recommend going for the river view rooms to make the most out of the balcony.

Lasenta Boutique Hotel Hoi An
Lasenta Boutique Hotel Hoi An is another budget option to consider if you don’t mind staying slightly farther out of the old town. It is located roughly 25 minutes by walk from the Japanese Covered Bridge or 8 minutes by bike. In contrast to most hotels in town, the Lasenta offers a different vibe given its location just at the town’s edge with some rooms offering views of rice fields that extend out into the horizon. Rooms here exude a more neutral and modern aesthetic, with less of a Vietnamese flair.

This place is always buzzing and guests can easily join in activities, even for those who are traveling solo. Although the hostel is not located near the ancient town, its location along the main road of Cua Dai means that dining and other commercial establishments are just within reach.
