Lounge Review: The Haven by JetQuay (Changi Airport Singapore Terminal 3)

The Haven by JetQuay is an airport lounge located in Singapore’s Changi Airport Terminal 3. Unlike the other lounges in Changi Airport which are located within the transit zone, The Haven is actually located in the arrivals hall after exiting the baggage claim section. The said lounge is not affiliated with any airlines and is available to all passengers for a fee. It’s also one of the partner lounges of Priority Pass. While going through Terminal 3 during a recent flight, I decided to check out the said lounge.

As the lounge is actually located in a public area, I noticed that reception was stricter in asking for a boarding pass (presumably to ward off non-passengers who may abuse the Priority Pass and head to the lounge just for the food). I was immediately handed a menu and asked for my preferred meal.

Aside from its landside location, The Haven by JetQuay also differs in food presentation. Rather than having a bona fide buffet, much of the food on offer is via the ala carte menu where passengers can choose a dish to their liking. Other than that, there is a small refreshments counter where pastries and drinks are available.

One thing I did notice though was how uncrowded the lounge was. During my visit, there were at most 2 other people there. The space itself is not terribly big but given the relatively empty seats, the lounge did feel much bigger than it really was.

Food from the ala carte menu is always served at the dining area at the far end of the lounge.

Many lounges have done away with the PC/MAC station but The Haven thankfully still has one.

There is also a shower area. To access it, one has to obtain the key from reception.

The standard access that comes with the Priority Pass is for 3 hours but for those who are in need of some shut eye, sleeping rooms can also be rented for a fee for varying durations. Passengers who rent the sleeping rooms automatically get a complimentary meal with the stay. In that sense, The Haven by JetQuay can also be thought of as an airport transit hotel.

I was not really looking to sleep during my visit to The Haven by JetQuay but I asked a staff member to show me what the nap rooms look like. The rooms are not big (all have single beds). The space is essentially just enough to fit a bed and a small desk.

Verdict

Given its landside location, The Haven by JetQuay may not be the most suitable lounge to visit for passengers who have 1 or 2 hours to wait out for a flight. Airside lounges are better for this purpose. However, this particular lounge may prove to be a good alternative if you need to avoid the crowds – this venue is relatively empty during daytime and you won’t have to queue just to get a shower, for example.

That being said, it seems that this lounge was created with transit passengers in mind. Of course, they could very well head to Aerotel Singapore or Crowne Plaza Changi Airport instead. But then, they would either have no access to their luggage (if they choose to go with Aerotel) or might not need a full-service hotel. In that case, this lounge can come in handy.
