Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) has launched a revamped version of their loyalty programme. Now called “INVITED,” the program replaces The Club of SLH. Benefits include access to exclusive rates and “Small Luxuries” right from the first stay at any of the 500 properties within the group. You can check out my review of The Scarlet Singapore – a SLH hotel in Singapore.
Worth noting is that since SLH is not a hotel chain per se, there are no points to be earned for stays. However, members can reach elite status depending on the number of times they stay at SLH hotels and based on what I am seeing, they’re not too hard to reach.
Here are the membership tiers and their respective benefits:
Base Tier – Invited (first stay)
Member Exclusive Prices
Early Check-in
Late Check-out
Complimentary WiFi
Member Exclusive Promotions
Daily Complimentary Continental Breakfast
Second Tier – Inspired (after just one stay)
Benefits same as “Invited” tier plus:
One category room upgrade (upon availability)
Birthday gift
Highest Tier – Indulged (after 6 stays)
Benefits same as “Inspired” tier plus:
Invite-only events
Reward night voucher
Verdict
An interesting feature of Invited is that even though members don’t get to earn points with the loyalty programme, they still stand to earn a free night once they have completed 5 stays in a year. However, the free night is capped to 1 night per calendar year.
This programme is quite decent if you consider the number of nights needed to reach elite level. After just one stay, members are eligible to get room upgrades on subsequent stays. SLH does mention though that this is subject to availability. How this is enforced with the hotels is a matter of implementation.
