Plaza Brasserie at Parkroyal on Beach Road is holding a Surf ‘N Turf promotion in its dinner buffet from 18th February to 26th March 2017. With a balanced selection of meats and seafood, the new menu will feature both Asian and Western delights including one serving of Lobster in Hua Tiao Sauce. Recently, I had the opportunity to check out a preview of the new buffet. These were the dishes I tried:
Curry Flavoured Crabmeat Salad
Possessing a texture that was not too dissimilar with crab cakes, chunks of crab meat were molded into an oblong-shaped whole. From the appearance alone, it certainly is not your “salad” in the traditional sense. Overall a decent starter to tease the palate.
Seafood Bisque
The seafood component was prominent on the broth but I found my serving that night to be a bit heavy on the salt.
Steamed Lobster in Huatiao Sauce (half portion per person)
Undoubtedly the highlight of the buffet, each person gets a half serving of the prized crustacean. The lobster was of decent size and came flavorful despite the relatively mild form of cooking – helped due to the copious amounts of spring onions, garlic and coriander. Make sure to sprinkle more of the robust sauce on the chewy lobster meat.
Wagyu MBS 3-4 D-Rump and Black Angus Ribeye Steak
For the carnivores, there’s the wagyu rump which has a marbling score of 3 to 4 and the ribeye steak. Both are equally decent meat options – just make sure not to get too carried away as the non-beef meat dishes are also worth trying.
Rosemary Mustard Chicken Pullet
The chicken offered a hint of home-style cooking with the fragrance of rosemary and the creamy mustard sauce – one of my favorite meat dishes that evening.
Duroc Spanish Pork Collar
Highly tender due to the choice portion, the Pork Collar came with plenty of fat alternating with lean meat. You may feel guilty about it after but the extra fat is worth a couple of extra minutes in the treadmill.
Sausage Platter – Garlic and Pork Bratwurst Sausage & Smoked Beef Sausage
Another dish that Plaza Brasserie does quite well, the Garlic and Pork Bratwurst was just oozing with juiciness inside.
Seasonal Fresh Fruit Platter
The buffet at Plaza Brasserie is known for offering many types of fruits in the dessert section. During our tasting, these fruits were creatively presented above glasses filled with dry ice to create a smoky effect.
The Surf ‘N Turf dinner buffet at Plaza Brasserie is priced at SGD 68++ per adult and SGD 41++ per child. DBS and UOB cardholders get 20% discount.
