The number of partner merchants under Mileslife has expanded so quickly that it is sometimes hard to decide exactly which one to visit to earn your Miles. Recently, Mileslife has included a category called “Best For Miles”, where users can sort through the dining establishments providing the highest number of Miles per $1 spend.
If you have linked your Emirates Skywards account to the Mileslife app as your frequent flyer programme of choice, you can also earn bonus Skywards Miles ranging from 25% to 75% if you are a Silver, Gold or Platinum member. Currently, Emirates Skywards is the only frequent flyer programme on Mileslife that offers tier based bonuses. If you’ve always wanted to redeem your Skywards Miles for Emirates flights, it is so much easier and more convenient now with Mileslife, as the Skywards Miles you earn with partner merchants are credited to your Emirates Skywards account directly. Essentially, this complements any Miles you earn on Emirates flights. There are also no extra fees to be incurred for crediting the Miles into your account, unlike with credit card point redemptions.
Redemption-wise, you can use your Skywards Miles to partially offset the cost of your Emirates flight or you can also use it to redeem a reward flight. Emirates has a couple of direct routes out of Singapore, including Colombo, Dubai, Melbourne and Brisbane, as well as indirect flights to Europe, Africa and the Americas so there are plenty of opportunities to redeem those Skywards Miles. Out of Singapore, the minimum number of Skywards Miles you can use to redeem a flight is for an Economy Class round trip Saver ticket to Colombo. That requires 27,500 Miles (for base fare only). Assume you have flown Emirates in the past for long haul trips. One round trip flight to Europe and another to the United States from Singapore over the years on an Economy Flex fare would have already netted you 23,250 Skywards Miles. Add in the Skywards Miles you could get with Mileslife to make up for the difference (i.e. 4,250 Miles in this example) and you’d have enough Miles for a redemption flight to Colombo.
Among the Mileslife dining partners that are best for earning Skywards Miles, here are my recommendations:
La Brasserie
The French restaurant at Fullerton Bay Hotel reopened recently with a refreshed look and a new menu. The cuisine at La Brasserie is decidedly upscale but is surprisingly affordable, especially during lunch. Among the ala carte items, the 4-hour cured Supreme de Canard Confit ($39) is a star with its tender meat as is the 500 grams of Cote de Boueuf ($99) which is good for two.

Cassia
A trip to Sentosa to dine at Capella Singapore’s Chinese restaurant is most definitely worth it. Spend a leisurely afternoon having an exquisite dimsum brunch in Cassia while basking in the wonderful interiors done by acclaimed designer, Andre Fu. My personal favorite is their famous Seafood Claypot ($138++). Good enough for two people, my claypot came with copious amounts of seafood – scallops, lobsters and even two pieces of abalone. The broth was sweet and oh-so addicting that I couldn’t help but request for a refill! One serving of the seafood claypot also comes with either two cups of rice or vermicelli so this by itself is also good enough for a meal for 2.

Artemis
My personal favorite venue to dine in the CBD, Artemis Bar and Grill is versatile for having both a rooftop bar with fantastic cocktails as well as a fine-dining restaurant that doesn’t solely rely on the views. The cuisine is decidedly Mediterranean and there is a distinct focus on sustainability and relatively healthy fare. For a memorable dinner, start by having one of bartender Rico Deang’s signature cocktails followed by a meal in the main dining room with impeccable views of Marina Bay Sands. Top picks include the Mediterranean Sea Bass ($42, for lunch only) and the Iberico Pork Chop ($40). Even the desserts are memorable. The Crema Catalana ($19) is markedly creamier than your usual creme brulee, while the Fennel and Berries ($15) is a fusion of various fruity flavors, ranging from the sweetness of strawberries to the acidity of apples.

Bar Vagabond
You know you’re in for a different experience as soon as you see the brass elephant on the walls of the lobby bar of Hotel Vagabond. Bar Vagabond’s deep red color scheme exudes an unmistakable 1930’s vibe. The golden statue of a baboon and the brass tree makes the main bar one of the most attractive in Singapore. Grab a cocktail (or two) as you soak in the atmosphere. The Amelie ($21), which consists of pierre ferrand cognac, dry curaçao, strawberry, maraschino and angostura bitters, is a compelling choice.

Lantern
One of Singapore’s most iconic rooftop bars, Lantern at Fullerton Bay Hotel is framed by the hotel’s infinity pool on one side and majestic views of Marina Bay on the other. It’s one of the most beautiful places in Singapore for a nightcap that both tourists and locals frequent. While here, make sure to try the hotel’s own version of the Singapore Sling. It comes in two variations, the Sweet Passion Sling ($25) and the Peach Berry Sling ($26). Pair your drinks with the bar’s signature sliders, including the popular Mini Wagyu Beef Burgers ($26), to fully appreciate what Lantern has to offer.

Akira Back
For something different from your usual Japanese, a visit to Akira Back at South Beach is highly recommended. The restaurant offers modern Japanese cuisine with Korean sensibilities, the result of which has made it a foodie’s favorite (it can be hard to get a table during weekends). There are quite a number of dishes I would recommend here, including the famous AB Pizza ($26) and the crunchy Brother From Another Mother Rolls ($23) topped with foie gras tourchon. For something heavier, the 48 Hours Sanchoku Short Rib ($48) simply brims with flavor and succulence. While the hot dishes were fantastic, I thought the sushi could be better. You can view Akira Back’s full ala-carte menu HERE.

Hansul Korean Dining Bar
Hansul is an interesting choice in this list. The food varies widely and while a number of dishes (i.e. the fried chicken and most appetizers) are quite underwhelming, specialties such as the skewered grill meats and the Kimchi Fried Rice ($13.90) give enough reason to come back for more. This restaurant is proof that you can flourish by having a few stellar dishes, if the full house during the Friday dinner that I was there serves as any indication.
